ITS Supports Clinical Measurement Physiologists’s Call for Action

The Irish Thoracic Society stands in full solidarity with Fórsa Clinical Measurement Physiologists in the HSE and Section 38 hospitals who have voted in favour of industrial action, up to and including strike action, to secure:

  • The completion of the joint union management workforce review for Clinical Measurement Physiologists and the implementation of the recommendations of that review.
  • An agreed staffing and governance model for Community Hubs under the ECC programme.
  • An end to outsourcing of Clinical Measurement Physiology Services in the public health sector.

The failure to address these issues as a priority has a direct impact on the health and wellbeing of our patients. Timely access to diagnostic services is fundamental to meeting the needs of our population, improving patient outcomes and reducing pressure on the wider healthcare system.

Clinical Measurement Physiologists are highly skilled professionals who play a vital role in the care of respiratory patients and many other complex conditions. As valued colleagues and ITS Members, their expertise underpins safe clinical decision-making and ensures patients receive the right treatment at the right time – a core principle of Sláintecare.

The Irish Thoracic Society call on the HSE, the Department of Health and wider Government to engage meaningfully and constructively with Fórsa  and to deliver the commitments needed to safeguard both staff and patients.
