Launch of “Clean Air, Healthier Ireland” by the Climate & Health Alliance

ITS were proud to see the launch of “Clean Air, Healthier Ireland” by the Climate & Health Alliance at the Houses of the Oireachtas hosted by Deputy Jennifer Whitmore TD of the Social Democrats.

Ireland has made important progress through its Clean Air Strategy — but now is the moment to go further by adopting a more explicitly health-centred, coordinated, and equity-focused approach. Our position paper identifies four key thematic areas where targeted strategic improvements would deliver substantial public health gains and accelerate progress toward full alignment with WHO air quality guidelines.

1. Strengthen Cross-Government Policy and Prioritise Health at the Core
2. Build Institutional Capacity and Enable Local Authorities to Lead
3. Create Supportive Environments for Behavioural and Structural Change
4. Enhance Monitoring, Communication, and Transparent Evaluation
