ILFA Mental Health Training Event – 18th June 2025

Pillar Centre, Mater Hospital - 09:00 - 17:00

ILFA regularly hears from respiratory medical professionals that the challenges of caring for patients with life-limiting diseases like lung fibrosis can leave them feeling emotionally overwhelmed. ILFA’s previous Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) training courses for medical professionals has shown the clear need and benefits of mental health supports.

This training event aims to expand those benefits, offering strategies to a broader audience of medical professionals that will help them feel confident and calm when caring for seriously ill patients. The interactive session, combining theory and practical exercises, has been developed by ILFA in conjunction with Dr. Elizabeth O’Brien, of the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Ireland’s only Principal Specialist Psychologist in Respiratory Medicine.

Key Topics will include:

• Understanding Mental Health Challenges

• Communicating with Empathy

• Caring for Yourself – a Mindfulness Based Support System

• Caring for Your Colleagues – Mental Health First Aid Overview

CPD accreditation will be available for attendees.   Please email info@ilfa.ie to Register or for any queries.
