Professor Lorcan McGarvey
Honoured with the Irish Thoracic Society Award for Outstanding Contribution to Respiratory Medicine, presented at the ITS Annual Scientific Meeting in Derry.
The award is the highest honour the Society can bestow, recognising members who have greatly contributed to respiratory medicine and healthcare in Ireland and to the development of the ITS.

Professor McGarvey accepted the award virtually. His acceptance speech received a standing ovation from colleagues at the Gala Dinner.
The citation
The citation was delivered at the Gala Dinner by Dr Martin Kelly, a friend and colleague of Professor McGarvey, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to respiratory medicine.
